There’s so many new and returning YGO players playing Master Duel. And that’s super cool! The game is getting so much new exposure and that’s good for all of us. That said, I’d like to remind regular players of something very important: Don’t judge and don’t gatekeep.
We all like to make the jokes within the community like Normal Summon Aleister hur hur and that some deck types are less skilled than others. But with so many new players that aren’t in on the joke, it can come across the wrong way and put them off of the community. That’s bad.
Sure, Normal Summon Aleister has been a thing for 4 years. But it’s an easy deck to pick up and it’s strong. For people dipping their toes into Yu-Gi-Oh, this is a perfect introduction into competitive decks. In the context of newer players, linear gameplay isn’t bad.
You may not like their choice of deck, but don’t take it out on the new player. We have an actual chance to grow the community and affect how YGO is perceived on a large scale. Let’s not screw it up.
Adding on after the fact: Yu-Gi-Oh attracts a wide audience. Some are competitive, some try the outlandish stuff, some like the anime and manga and only play with the character themed cards. Not everyone thinks the same way as you do. Not every card is for you. Don’t judge.
